Training of trainers in the use and maintenance of Capertillar equipment

The content of the training course was based on the skills-based approach applied to the use of Caterpillar equipment in a mining site.

It was structured around the following aspects:

Preparation of a training action

  • Determining the public’s characteristics and taking them into consideration.
  • Defining the strategic, operational and educational objectives of the training course.
  • Developing the teaching programme.
  • Setting up the progression of training sequences.
  • Choosing the appropriate training methods.
  • Designing and developing efficient training media (for both the learner and the trainer).

Facilitation of a training action

  • Preparing the site and using the training space optimally.
  • Controlling the various communication techniques in training situations.
  • Using the media (different types of tables, projected media, etc.).
  • Adjusting the documentation according to the public, the topic and the available means and resources.
  • Facilitating the key moments of the training course (beginning, regular assessment, awareness development, feedback, etc.).
  • Managing the learners’ group dynamics and the various trainees:
    • identifying and applying group facilitation techniques;
    • making learners participate and involving them in their training;
    • identifying possible supports;
    • managing passivity and reluctant trainees.
  • Managing pace and time.

Evaluation of a training action

  • The various types of evaluation and their objectives.
  • The evaluation of skills: oral and written evaluation
    • Individual evaluation: tests at entry and exit, oral evaluation during the training course.
    • Group evaluation: written and/or oral collective work.
    • Identification of areas for improvement and individual or collective action plan.
  • The evaluation of satisfaction:
    • Initial and follow-up evaluation.

Oral (roundtable) or written (questionnaire) evaluation.
