Tailor-made training on “Strategies for implementing the public infrastructure major projects”

The Steering and Monitoring Committee of the Kribi Industrial Port Complex (COPIL) entrusted the Egis International-INECOR consortium with a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) assignment for monitoring the first phase of the construction of the Kribi deep seaport. The services started on 1st March 2012. In addition to assisting the Owner in monitoring the first phase of the construction works, the assignment included capacity building actions for said Owner.

The Kirby deep seaport project is part of the Industrial Port Complex major project which aims to create a leading economic growth hub including, in particular, an industrial zone, a logistics activities zone, motorway, railway, telecommunication, water and electricity supply networks, a special economic zone, a new town, etc.

The purpose of the training entitled “Strategies for implementing the public infrastructure major projects” is to strengthen the COPIL’s capabilities for implementing the non-port components of the Kribi Industrial Port Complex, by presenting case studies on the structuring and organisation of public facilities and infrastructure projects which are comparable to those of the Kribi Industrial Port Complex, in their nature or their magnitude.

The training of 10 Cameroonian participants (8 executives from the COPIL, 1 from the Ministry of Public Procurement and 1 from the Ministry of Transport) took place from 22 to 26 June 2015. The training session consisted of:

- 3 classroom training days on the organisation of projects, the financial structuring of projects, and the organisation of the PMC including the management of contracts (procurement and PPP);

- 1 day devoted to visiting Egis’ Head Office in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines;

- 1 day of field trip, on the A28 and A88 French motorways.
