Project to Support the Development of Continuing Education in the Forestry and Wood Sector in Central Africa (ADEFAC)

The aim of the ADEFAC program and of this project is to contribute to the sustainable management of the Congo Basin forests, through the development of a continuous training offer for the forestry-wood sector (upstream and downstream) in the countries of Central Africa, co-constructed by professional circles and training institutions in the sector, making it possible to improve the employability and qualifications of the actors and to enhance the value of the economic sector.

The implementation of the project is broken down into three components, detailed in main activities, as follows

Component 1: Improving the match between supply and demand for continuing training and making the continuing training system sustainable

  • Strengthening the training function within the largest companies and their groupings
  • Supporting SMEs and VSEs in integrating the training function
  • Identification and strengthening of a pool of regional trainers
  • Development of a quality approach to continuous training and RIFFEAC-ATIBT certification
  • Setting up and leading a thematic working group on continuing education
  • Development of proposals to identify sustainable funding systems

Component 2: Deployment of the continuing education offer in the selected countries of the Central African sub-region

  • Organisational evaluation of training institutions and production of a guide for the management of continuing education
  • Capacity building of trainers through training-actions
  • Capitalisation of project achievements and support to the market for local wood products

Component 3: Cross-cutting component
