Training of executives from the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) on debt sustainability

This two week-long training course was facilitated by three international trainers.

The first part of the training course, which concentrated on the development and implementation of a debt policy, took place from 5 to 9 June 2017 and addressed the five following topics:

- Topic 1: Basic concepts and development of a debt strategy

- Topic 2: Fiscal policy and public debt

- Topic 3: Debt dynamics

- Topic 4: Sustainability analysis

- Topic 5: International negotiations and debt-related incidents

The second week of the training course, from 12 to 16 June 2017, was dedicated to debt sustainability: analysis techniques and tools. This week was cofacilitated by two trainers who focused the course on the following topics:

- Topic 1 (workshop session): Legal foundations and key concepts of debt sustainability (facilitated by a lawyer specialising in debt sustainability)

- Topic 2 (workshop session): Economic foundations and debt sustainability analysis techniques (facilitated by an economist specialising in debt sustainability)

- Topic 3 (plenary session): Presentation of and introduction to the new public debt sustainability analysis framework
