Training of Burundi Revenue Authority auditors on tax audit techniques in specialized areas (Telecom, Banking and Insurance, Construction)

Forhom by Egis has been selected by the Institutional Capacity Building for Government Effectiveness Project (PRCIEG) to train auditors from the Burundi Revenue Office (OBR) on tax audit techniques in the specialised sectors (telecoms, banking, insurance and construction).Within the framework of this mission, Forhom by Egis will prepare and conduct a training programme from 25 October 2021 to 31 December 2021 for a total duration of 50 days on the following topics

• Common core on "tax audit techniques and tools" for 82 auditors: 4 sessions;
• Case studies on specific sectors (Telecom, Banking and Insurance, Construction): 8 training sessions.

These trainings are aimed at 82 auditors on tax audit techniques in the specialised sectors of telecommunications, banking, insurance and construction.The overall objective is to improve the quality and performance of tax audits by equipping the targeted auditors of the Office of Internal Revenue and Non-tax Revenue and the Office of Investigation, Intelligence and Risk Management (82 candidates) with sufficient professional skills in tax auditing in the specialised areas (telecoms, banking, insurance, construction) according to international best practices.Strengthening the capacity of tax officers in tax auditing techniques of companies in the specialised sectors (telecom, banking, insurance and construction) in order to:

• Identify the risks of tax evasion related to these sectors
• Know how to assess and prioritise risks
• Understand the aspects of transfer pricing
• Prepare and plan the fieldwork well
• Master the reconstitution of turnover in these sectors
• Training on IAS/IFRS accounting standards applicable to the various specialised sectors (telecoms, banking, insurance and construction)

As part of the implementation of this project, Forhom by Egis is responsible for

• The mobilisation of 3 international experts
• Preparation of training materials
• Conducting 50 days of training in Bujumbura
• The evaluation of what has been learned at the end of the training course
